On May 16, 2006 during National EMS week the personnel with the Minneapolis/ Ottawa County EMS were honored at a banquet. Mayor Bobby Hudson said " We appreciate the fact we can dial 911 and know you will be there. We are proud of you and what you do. You are the true unsung heroes that we never really appreciate until we need you, and then we know how important you are. Hudson said the city spends 6 percent of it's budget on the EMS program, and said it may be the most important thing the city does. " Not everyone realizes you're ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that when we call you will be there." Personnel received pins for years of service. Those receiving 1 year pins were Scott Allen, Marvin Ballou, Buddy Hess, Cory Kleindienst, Ashly Nicholson and Steve Ringquist. 5 year pins Rob Matlack, Ron Murk, Val Murk, Kim Reed and Deana Sanchez. Karl Leech received a 10 year pin. 15 year pins were given to Carolyn Henderson and Scott Williamson.

EMS Director Lanny Zadina received a 25 year pin.
